The legend of SKÖLL AND HATI
In Old Norse,
Sköll (“One Who Mocks”) and
Hati ("One Who Hates") are two wolves who
pursue Sol and Mani (the sun and moon)
through the sky, hoping to devour them.
At Ragnarok ("downfall of the cosmos")
Sköll and Hati eventually catch their prey
causing the sky to collapse and the earth to darken.
Always together, forever chasing their elusive prey
Sköll and Hati represent the duality of life....
Dark would not exist without the light. Beauty exists only because of ugliness.
